Specialty insurer Mosaic Insurance, has announced that it has added 13 US environmental risk specialists to its team as the organisation continues to buildout business across the Americas.
According to Mosaic, this expansion marks the next stage of growth for the company’s Environmental Liability division, which was launched as Mosaic’ seventh line of business less than two years ago.
Specialists are now located across the United States, in New York, Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boulder, CO, and New Orleans.
They each join an existing team of seven US and international environmental risk experts based in London, Toronto and Philadelphia who have established a strong market presence in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Central America, and Europe.
From what we understand, the newly-hired team comprises of senior specialists with experience in handling risks across broad segments of the market, including energy, manufacturing, chemical, real estate, municipal, transactional and development exposure.
They also have expertise in creating solutions for emerging markets, such as energy transition, with product expertise in areas such as carbon sequestration exposures and tax liabilities.
In addition, Mosaic also confirmed that it is planning to launch a combined general liability and pollution policy later this year.
The new team members include: AVP, Iraj Dehnavi; SVP, Maureen Domenicone; VP, Patrick Enderlin; SVP, Patrick Grassl; SVP, Max Horn; SVP, Noelle MacDonald; SVP, Karen Reilly; SVP, Rob Stedman; VP, Melissa Sweeney; AVP, Sophia Terzulli; SVP, Dan Weber; and VP, Vesta Zavistauskaite.
Renowned claims specialist Thomas Duggan also joins the company as Head of Environmental Claims, Mosaic confirmed.
Jim Finnamore, Mosaic’s Global Head of Environmental Liability, commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome this talented group of market-leading peers to our dynamic team. This accelerates our scale-up in the US, Canada, and wider Americas, and paves the way for immediate, broad market engagement across the region at a time when it’s most needed. There’s a lot of flux in the market—and fewer carriers offering the technical proficiency and flexibility needed to address the rise in complex environmental risks and emerging pollution issues.”
Toby Smith, CEO, Americas, who was appointed to the role in July, said: “The US is the largest, most dominant environmental liability market globally and it’s vital to our strategic growth plan at Mosaic. We believe this buildout brings great opportunity to diversify our book of business and further expand our product suite.”
Finnamore, added: “Claims integration with underwriting is an integral part of our ethos and business practice. Together, our team, like all divisions at Mosaic, will continue to operate as one global entity delivering cross-border solutions to our valued broker partners and clients.”
