Mosaic Insurance, a specialty insurer focused on complex and emerging risks, has widened its international footprint into Continental Europe, underwriting political violence risks out of Germany with up to €100 million in dedicated capacity.
Tailored coverage applies to a full spectrum of commercial, industrial and residential property risks associated with acts of terror and sabotage, malicious damage, strikes, riots, and civil commotion (SRCC), active assailant, war perils, and related liability.
“We’re delighted to announce the launch of political violence cover through Mosaic Europe,” said Mosaic’s Global Head of Political Violence, Adam McGrath. “Having already established direct capacity in the US and Dubai markets, we have now expanded into Europe with this line of business by taking advantage of our Cologne presence and strong foothold in the region.”
The capacity enters the market amid a shifting threat environment for European corporate buyers and brokers.
Rising European demand for political violence insurance reflects ongoing terrorism threats, growing concern over state-backed sabotage, and elevated risks of social unrest that threaten property, business continuity, and systemic stability.
“Europe is a diverse and multi-cultural continent that faces risks from many different forms of political violence and our European business is committed to supporting clients through what is a challenging and uncertain environment,” said Dennis Bertram, Managing Director for Europe.
“By offering coverage through our German hub, we are able to write European Economic Area (EEA) business directly to EEA brokers,” added Bertram, “expanding our reach through the European market.”
Mosaic started underwriting global war, terrorism, and political violence risks in March 2021, only a month after its launch.
Today, the company’s political violence team includes twelve specialists operating across New York, Chicago, Boston, Bermuda, London, Dubai, and Cologne.
