Commercial insurance and reinsurance specialist MS Amlin is the first company to have been welcomed to the new Lloyd’s of London India branch office.
According to an announcement from the UK Department of Trade, the news that MS Amlin would be the first syndicate manager to operate out of the Lloyd’s of London Mumbai branch was to be announced during a UK trade delegation visit to the country at which John Nelson, the Lloyd’s Chair, would be in attendance.
MS Amlin had its registration successfully approved and we understand was ready to underwrite from the Lloyd’s India branch in time for the recent April renewal.
Specialty reinsurance products are expected to be the focus, we’re told, as India’s insurance market begins to open up more to foreign risk capital.
