MS Transverse, a hybrid fronting carrier that works with MGAs and programme administrators across the United States, has recently announced that Tom McGrath has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Head of Program Underwriting.
McGrath will be responsible for directing programme underwriting activities across MS Transverse’s portfolio of MGA and programme partnerships. Reporting to Ethan Allen, Chief Program Officer, he will oversee underwriting execution, promote consistency across programs, and provide experienced leadership to support disciplined underwriting practices, strong governance, and continued platform expansion.
With more than 37 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance markets, McGrath brings a broad background spanning underwriting, operations, and the buildout and management of programme business.
He most recently served at AIG as Senior Vice President and Head of AIG US Programs, where he oversaw a portfolio of 30 programmes producing approximately $1 billion in annual gross written premium. His responsibilities included portfolio growth, underwriting performance, and overall programme oversight.
Prior to AIG, McGrath held senior roles at Old Republic Specialty Insurance Underwriters and ACE Insurance Group (now Chubb). He also spent time at Munich Re, where he managed a nationwide programme underwriting team and previously worked as a reinsurance underwriter.
