MSIG USA, the US specialty insurance arm of the global MS&AD Insurance Group, has expanded the Board of Directors of MSIG Holdings (USA), Inc. with the appointments of Darin Stafford, Thomas R. Sullivan and Marc Gallo.
The company said the additions are designed to enhance its governance capabilities and support its long-term strategy as it continues to grow its data-driven specialty insurance business in the United States.
The three appointments bring a broad range of experience across finance, insurance regulation, technology and corporate strategy. Together with Chairman Martin J. Sullivan, the Board now represents more than a century of combined leadership experience across the international insurance and financial services sectors.
Stafford joins the Board following a career spanning more than three decades in financial leadership, capital markets, governance and enterprise risk management. As former Chief Financial Officer of Amwins, he helped oversee the company’s expansion through acquisitions, capital raising and financial management. The company said his background will strengthen the Board’s oversight of financial governance and long-term value creation.
Sullivan brings more than 40 years of experience across both the public and private sectors, according to MSIG USA. His previous roles include Senior Associate Director at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Connecticut Insurance Commissioner and Senior Vice President at The Hartford. MSIG USA said his understanding of insurance regulation, financial policy and risk management will contribute to the Board’s governance responsibilities and strategic direction.
Gallo has spent more than 35 years advising insurers and financial services organisations on technology strategy and business transformation. During a 29-year career at PwC, he worked on initiatives involving cloud computing, artificial intelligence, digital transformation and enterprise modernisation, while also establishing the firm’s new services and emerging technologies practice. MSIG USA said his experience will support its continued focus on innovation and the use of data to improve business performance.
“MSIG USA is entering an exciting period of growth, and building a board with the right mix of experience is essential to supporting our long-term strategy,” added Peter McKenna, Chief Executive Officer of MSIG USA.
“Each of these directors brings expertise that aligns directly with where MSIG USA is headed as a business. Darin’s financial and governance leadership, Tom’s regulatory and risk expertise, and Marc’s experience driving technology and data transformation complement one another and strengthen our Board at an important point in our evolution. Together, they will help guide our strategy as we continue building toward our vision of becoming a market-leading, data-driven specialty insurer.”
