In order to align itself for continued success in the future, joint reinsurance association Mutual Reinsurance Bureau is dropping the Bureau from its name, announcing a name change to Mutual Re.

John Meyers, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mutual Re, commented: “As we approach our 100-year anniversary in 2021, we felt the time was right to drop the ‘bureau’ from our name. That word harkens back to a bygone era of reinsurance, and while we embrace our history, we need to be poised for continued success in the future. The shorter name is less confusing, more descriptive of our mission, and more in line with the names of our fellow reinsurers. It was also a natural fit for us, since we already owned the domain mutualre.com.”

Based in Cherry Valley, Illinois, Mutual Re provides reinsurance to many diverse insurance companies across the U.S., providing its clients with unquestioned security.

The assuming companies the reinsurer represents includes Church Mutual Insurance Company, Employers Mutual Casualty Company, Kentucky Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Michigan, and Motorists Insurance Group.
