Bermuda-domiciled, tech-driven insurance management and reinsurance transform organisation, Nascent Group, has added two industry veterans, Yulanda Francis and Shehan Ranasinghe, to its senior leadership team.

These strategic hires are aligned with the firm’s commitment to bolstering its servicing capabilities.

Founded in early 2023, Nascent Group leverages innovative technology to bring transparency and efficiency to the insurance landscape with one of the major focuses being insurance-linked securities (ILS).

Andre Perez , Chief Executive Officer, commented, “We are beyond excited to welcome Yulanda and Shehan to the Nascent family. Their expertise and impeccable market reputations will be instrumental in advancing our mission to lead with technology to better service the ILS, reinsurance, and captive service sectors.”

Francis has been named as Executive Vice President, where she will oversee all insurance management and transformation activities. She will serve on the Group Board alongside Andre Perez, Alison Morrison, and Nigel Godfrey.

Previously the President of Horseshoe Re and EVP, Transforming and Client Partner Lead at Artex Capital Solutions, Francis has deep expertise in streamlining reinsurance transformation services.

Francis added, “I am delighted to join Nascent and have the opportunity to work with former colleagues along with new ones, in a dynamic and innovative environment! I am thoroughly impressed by the technology platform Nascent has developed which sets it clearly apart from its peers.”

Ranasinghe has been appointed as Senior Vice President. His background includes a tenure at Artex, including roles as Managing Director-Shared Services, Vice President and Head of Insurance Accounting. Ranasinghe’s remit will include overseeing and managing collateralized reinsurance transactions for Nascent Re and managing transformers.

Previously, Ranasinghe worked for several years in the insurance division of WNS, a global outsourcing service provider, responsible for the general ledger management of Aviva Insurance UK.

The firm concluded, “Francis’ and Ranasinghe’s addition to the team is not just a professional reunion but a strategic move to fortify Nascent’s innovative approach.

“Aside from Andre Perez and Nigel Godfrey, the pair will be joining forces with a few former colleagues including Warren DeKlerk, Head of Cat Bond Administration, and Phil Jones, Head of Collateral Management and Banking, to be poised to elevate Nascent’s service offerings to new heights.”

Early February 2024, the firm unveiled a new collateral monitoring feature to facilitate smoother and more transparent ILS transactions for the benefit of fund managers and investors in the space.
