Nationwide names Hespe Head of Underwriting Performance for E&S/Specialty

Ohio-based insurer Nationwide has appointed Julie Hespe as the head of Underwriting Performance for the company’s Excess & Surplus/Specialty team.

Nationwide LogoHespe’s team – the Underwriting & Product Performance Center of Excellence, will have a direct focus on portfolio profitability, underwriting governance and best practices, product management strategy, regulatory compliance and performance.

Hespe joins Nationwide with more than 30 years of experience as a commercial insurance leader.

In her most recent role, she served as senior vice president of QBE WC Programs and Arrowhead Core Commercial divisions.

Prior to QBE, she served as executive team member of MGA BlueSkyRisk, where she participated in new program development and strategy, and provided data-driven insights on general underwriting issues for in force programs.

Prior to that, she spent 15 years at AIG where she served in a number of senior leadership roles in AIG Environmental and AIGS’s Specialty Workers Compensation Business.
