OAK Global has announced the appointments of James Irvine and Roland Morse to expanded roles within the business as Active Underwriters for Syndicates 2843 and 1440, respectively.

OAK Global logoIrvine and Morse will assume underwriting responsibility for their respective primary reinsurance and retrocession syndicates and will continue to report to Cathal Carr, Founder, CEO, and Group CUO of OAK Global.

Irvine becomes Active Underwriter for Syndicate 2843. His title will change to Chief Underwriting Officer, OAK Reinsurance & Active Underwriter, Syndicate 2843.

Prior to joining OAK Re in spring 2025, Irvine served as Group Chief Underwriting Officer, Reinsurance at Lancashire Insurance Group and began his career at Guy Carpenter.

Morse becomes Active Underwriter for Syndicate 1440. His title is now Chief Underwriting Officer, OAK Enterprise & Active Underwriter, Syndicate 1440.

He brings more than 20 years of industry experience. Before joining OAK Global in June 2025, Morse served as a Reinsurance Broker at Guy Carpenter and began his career at Aon, where he spent a decade in reinsurance broking.

Carr said, “2026 is an important year for OAK Global as we build on our successful first year of underwriting in 2025. Continuing to enhance our regulated team structure is an important part of building a robust underwriting business, while giving well-deserved recognition and responsibility to our valued colleagues.

“James and Roland are both important leaders in our business, shaping the development of our primary reinsurance and retrocession strategic business units, OAK Reinsurance and OAK Enterprise. The expansion of their responsibilities will support our continued disciplined underwriting approach while enhancing the delivery of our value proposition to our clients and brokers. I am delighted to see them step up into the formal positions of Active Underwriter.”

These appointments follow OAK Reinsurance’s enhanced organisational structure in July 2025, which built on its successful launch in November 2024.
