Optio Group, a specialty managing general agent (MGA), has announced that it has acquired AGS Forsikring AS (AGS).
Founded in 2008 by Lars-Petter Myklebost and headquartered in Oslo, AGS provides insurance solutions and claims handling across the energy, sport and fine art sectors. The MGA manages personal accident claims for Scandinavian sports federations through a proprietary IT system, offers tailor-made solutions for cultural institutions across Scandinavia, and has established a global presence in the energy market via Lloyd’s-backed binders in both onshore and offshore.
The acquisition of AGS strengthens Optio’s Scandinavian presence, following its acquisition of Norwegian-based MGA S Insurance AS in April 2025, and brings highly complementary areas of specialism to the firm.
Deepak Soni, CEO of Optio Group, said, “AGS is a fantastic addition to the Optio group and a further step in our ongoing international expansion. We are thrilled to welcome Lars-Petter and his team. They have built a strong business supported by proprietary tech and strong partnerships, with high renewal rates and a reputation for premium service across the region and with their global clients. AGS’ well-balanced portfolio will broaden Optio’s horizons and we are looking forward to collaborating with team.”
Myklebost added, “Joining Optio opens up significant opportunities for AGS and we are eager to combine their expertise and business services with our own specialised offering. Optio’s dynamic culture aligns closely with our own approach and that of S Insurance (An Optio Company) and I very much look forward to co-creating solutions to our client’s unique challenges and goals and working with immediate team across Scandinavia and the broader Optio group.”
