Pacific Life Re, the reinsurance arm of Pacific Life, has announced the appointment of Dion Russell as Managing Vice President, Business Services, Protection.
Russell has more than 25 years of experience in the life insurance industry, having worked across Asia, Australia and New Zealand. His career spans roles in primary insurance, consulting and reinsurance, giving him extensive insight into the sector.
Prior to joining Pacific Life Re, he led the APAC Regional Life & Health Business at a global reinsurer. In that position, he was responsible for activities in the Korean and Japanese markets and also held CEO responsibilities for Australia and New Zealand.
A qualified actuary, Russell has developed expertise across a wide range of areas, including business development, portfolio management, strategic planning, operations and governance.
In his new role, Russell will report to Elaine Murphy, Senior Vice President, Chief Actuary and Chief Pricing Officer. He will also become a member of both the Global Protection Executive Committee and the Divisional Business Services Executive Committee.
