Life and health reinsurer Pacific Life Re has appointed Soichiro Makimoto as Head of its Japan representative office.
The move reinforces the reinsurer’s long-term commitment to the Japanese market.
In his new role, Soichiro will enhance Pacific Life Re’s presence in Japan, bringing a deeper understanding of clients’ needs to support the company’s regional growth ambitions.
Most recently, Makimoto served as Vice President of Senior Credit Officer for Moody’s Japan for almost a decade. He has over 25 years of experience across the insurance and banking sectors.
Prior to Moody’s, Makimoto was the Actuary Team Leader for Aon Benfield in Tokyo for over five years, with his remit including reinsurance and insurance consulting and credit rating advisory. He started his career as a Consultant for financial institutions at PwC, eventually serving as an Insurance Consultant at Willis Towers Watson, and as a Ratings Analyst at Moody’s Investors Service in structured finance.
