Pacific Life Re, a global provider of mortality, morbidity, and longevity reinsurance solutions, has announced the appointment of Nicholas Lax as Head of Research & Development (R&D), Europe.
Having joined the company in 2018 as a member of the R&D team, Lax brings 17 years of life and pension industry experience to the role.
Since joining Pacific Life Re, he has led the development of different mortality and morbidity assumptions. Additionally, Lax played a key role in the design and implementation of a new experience analysis tool.
Before Pacific Life Re, Lax gained his extensive knowledge through a range of roles across consulting, the direct market, and reinsurance.
Lax will report to Matthew Smith, Head of Divisional R&D, who commented: “I’m delighted to have Nick leading the Europe R&D team.
“Nick has a great vision as well as an in-depth knowledge of the UK insurance industry. Alongside his experience of cutting-edge analytics Nick will cement and advance Pacific Life Re’s research and development capabilities in the reinsurance market.”
Lax added: “I am excited about taking this step up at Pacific Life Re. I relish the challenge of leading the Europe R&D team and developing the business understanding of biometric risk; both in the context of new opportunities, as well as understanding the inforce book.”
