New York City headquartered ESG+ startup, Parameter Climate, has announced the appointment of climate risk management expert, Ralph Renner as Partner and Head of Origination.
In his new role, Renner assumes responsibility for the build-out and management of Parameter Climate’s distribution of structured financial products to buyers and brokers in the growing climate risk transfer market.
He will be based in London and re-joins a team which previously developed a business that was consistently highly rated as a global dealer in climate for much of the past ten years.
Parameter Climate is a full-service parametric climate underwriting, advisory and distribution company.
Recently, the company, which was founded by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Martin Malinow, entered into a strategic partnership with specialty insurer and reinsurer, SiriusPoint.
“We are thrilled to have Ralph join as part of our founding team,” said Malinow. “His extensive experience, relationships and market knowledge will allow the company to engage and serve clients across many different industries, initially focused on Energy but rapidly expanding into other verticals impacted by climate.”
For the past decade, Renner has been focused on the climate risk transfer marketplace. Earlier in his career, he spent time trading European energy for banks, utilities, and merchants.
Commenting on his new role, Renner said: “We believe that corporations and public entities will be compelled to go beyond disclosing their climate-driven exposures, ultimately being mandated to actively manage these risks with customized solutions.
“Structuring, underwriting and distributing these solutions requires a unique skillset which our team at Parameter Climate has developed through decades of market leadership, strongly positioning us to be impactful in the continued growth of climate risk transfer.”
