Bermuda-based reinsurance company PartnerRe has promoted Chris Shanahan to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its Life & Health operations, succeeding Marc Archambault, effective January 1st, 2025.
Since September 2021, Shanahan has served as PartnerRe’s CEO of North America Life, having joined the firm in 2018 as Executive Vice President, Life Corporate Development, later serving as President of US Life operations for just over two years.
He joined PartnerRe from large European reinsurer Hannover Re in May 2018, where he worked for more than nine years, ultimately serving as Executive Vice President, Mortality Solutions. Prior to Hannover Re, Shanahan spent time with Scottish Re, ING Re, and Lincoln Financial Group.
Shanahan, who will join the firm’s Executive Leadership Team, takes over as CEO of Life & Health at PartnerRe from Archambault, who is retiring after more than seven years with the reinsurer. Previously, Archambault worked at SCOR in numerous roles based in different parts of the world over many years, ultimately serving as CEO of SCOR Global Life Asia Pacific before joining PartnerRe.
