At the ongoing Disaster Risk Finance (DRF) Workshop in Nadi, the Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC), a regional initiative focused on providing insurance solutions for disaster risks, engaged in discussions with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), a leading institution supporting economic growth and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.

The dialogue underscored the urgent need for improved financial protection mechanisms for Pacific island nations in the face of increasing climate change risks and natural disasters.

The PCRIC team outlined its ongoing efforts to mobilise capital from key donors to fund premium financing and investments that will help countries build long-term disaster resilience.

Additionally, PCRIC updated the ADB delegation on its initiatives to diversify its insurance policies and products, ensuring they cater to the specific needs of the market.

This includes developing solutions for state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and other essential sectors in the region.

Both PCRIC and ADB reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating on impactful solutions that will strengthen financial preparedness and disaster response capabilities.

With climate change driving increasing vulnerabilities, the partnership aims to provide Pacific nations with timely access to financial tools that can help mitigate the impact of disasters and enhance regional resilience.
