Price Forbes, a specialist insurance and reinsurance broker, has launched a new construction offering in South Africa and appointed Alvin Dye, Paul Jacobs, and Kagiso Sephiphi to the newly formed team.

Price Forbes logoPrice Forbes has named Alvin Dye as Head of Construction. In this role, he will report to Kenny Thorpe, Chairman of Price Forbes South Africa, and will be responsible for growing the construction practice and developing its offering for clients across Africa and globally.

Dye brings nearly three decades of industry experience and has held senior roles at major broking firms, including Head of Construction at Willis SA and Regional Practice Head at Marsh.

Paul Jacobs has been appointed Account Executive, responsible for developing local and international business within the construction practice and supporting the growth of Price Forbes’ specialist capabilities in South Africa.

He brings more than 40 years of experience across the construction and engineering markets, having held roles at firms including Willis, Marsh, and Alex Forbes.

Kagiso Sephiphi joins as Junior Account Executive, focusing on technical broking within the construction practice, with a view to expanding into renewable energy as the team grows.

He brings a decade of construction insurance experience, having progressed through broking roles at Marsh and Willis South Africa, where he developed deep expertise in risk management solutions for complex construction projects. Most recently, he served as a Construction Insurance Specialist at WTW.

The appointments form part of a joint venture with Price Forbes’ London construction team, structured around three areas of focus: a retail offering serving Africa-focused clients across the continent; outward wholesale placement, with the South African team working in partnership with London to access global markets; and reverse-flow business, whereby London’s international construction clients with African project exposure can be supported locally by the South Africa team.

Thorpe commented, “We are delighted to be launching this new offering, and I have faith in Alvin and his team to deliver exceptional results. Combining local capability with the strength of our London partnership puts us in a strong position to deliver for clients across the continent and beyond.”

Dye added, “This is an exciting moment for Price Forbes in South Africa. We have assembled a team with deep specialist expertise and a clear vision for what we want to build. We have real appetite and I’m looking forward to seeing how we grow.”
