QBE Asia appoints Jeremy Lau as Chief Underwriting Officer

Sydney, Australia headquartered insurer QBE has recently announced the appointment of Jeremy Lau as Chief Underwriting Officer for its Asian business.

qbe-logoLau takes over from Andy White, who is now Group Head of Underwriting Strategy and Performance.

In his new role, Lau will work closely with Rob Kosova, CEO of QBE Asia, and Nick Hankin, Chief Underwriting Officer for QBE International. He will oversee the firm’s underwriting strategy, governance, and performance.

Kosova expressed his enthusiasm for Lau’s appointment, stating, “Jeremy’s leadership and deep understanding of underwriting and risk management will be instrumental in driving our strategic initiatives and strengthening our market position in the region.”

He added, “We are thrilled to have Jeremy continue this journey with us, and I am confident that Jeremy’s expertise and commitment will contribute significantly to our long-term growth and success here and globally.”

Lau brings 25 years of experience in actuarial, underwriting, and distribution functions to his new role.

He joined QBE Asia in 2016 as Chief Actuary, Asia Pacific, and has been serving as Chief Actuary, Asia for the past five years.

Before that, Lau worked at Zurich Insurance for over eight years, most recently serving as Head of Global Corporate, Hong Kong. He also worked as a Senior Actuarial Analyst at CNA Insurance.
