Risk Capital Advisors (RCA) has announced a new office opening in Amsterdam as the firm looks to expand its presence in the continental European market.

RCA says its long-term strategy is to expand in order to meet market demand for M&A insurance advice.

It noted that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for M&A insurance advice and transaction risk mitigation has increased drastically.

The Amsterdam office will be led by corporate M&A lawyer, Rob Faasen, who has been an advisor for transactions for over 30 years. Prior to working for RCA, Faasen merged his own firm, Faasen & Partners with Eversheds Sutherland Netherlands in 2008.

Faasen will be joining Rick Glover who is the Founder and Managing Director, as well as the two other directors, Ben Brindle and Janine Fenwick.

Insuring warranties and indemnities, tax liabilities and contingent risks in M&A transactions are continuing to to grow in the Netherlands, which has resulted in a rise of demand from Buyers and Sellers of Dutch assets and their advisors for expert, local M&A insurance advisors.

With Faasen leading the business in the Benelux region, and working with London-based colleagues across Europe, the RCA team brings a combination of hands-on transaction experience and global M&A insurance expertise that is unrivalled in the M&A insurance market.

Rick Glover, RCA Managing Director, commented: “M&A insurance is a thriving and innovative tool to minimise risk and smooth the road for M&A transactions. The Netherlands is a growth market for M&A insurance given that some M&A advisors still do not consider M&A insurance solutions for their clients.

“But as sellers and buyers face difficult market conditions, stability and risk mitigation are of critical importance. We are delighted to appoint someone of Rob’s calibre, leadership qualities and corporate M&A legal experience.”
