Reinsurance News held its fourth Monte Carlo Executive Roundtable at the 68th edition of the annual RVS meeting in September, bringing together eight leaders from across the re/insurance industry to discuss key issues shaping the sector.

The 2026 Reinsurance News Monte Carlo Executive Roundtable report, in partnership with SiriusPoint, PwC, and BMS Group, is now available to download for free.

The discussion covered a range of topics, beginning with an assessment of current market conditions, with participants highlighting intense competition amid record levels of capacity, as well as growing demand driven by climate change, geopolitical risks, and technology.

With the January renewals fast-approaching, pricing, terms and conditions, and structures were also debated, and participants explored what cedents increasingly expect from their reinsurance partners.

Another area of focus was the casualty reinsurance market heading into next year amid ongoing pressures in the US from social inflation and litigation financing.

The roundtable session also explored what type or scale of loss event it might take to alter the market’s current trajectory, prompting debate around natural catastrophes, cyber risks, and the growing interconnectedness of risk.

Other topics explored by participants included technology, artificial intelligence, and opportunities presented by data centres.
