Bermuda-based RenaissanceRe has appointed Cathal Carr as SVP, Chief Underwriting Officer – Europe.
In his new role Carr will lead market engagement and deal execution in the continent from RenRe’s London, Zurich and Dublin underwriting platforms.
Additionally, he will also be focused on maintaining key client and broker relationships and enhancing the company’s connection with the European market.
Carr has been with RenaissanceRe for over eighteen years, having joined the company as a Risk Analyst in 2005.
He has held a multitude of positions since then, including his most recent as SVP Underwriting, Global Head of Climate and Sustainability Strategy, a role he held for almost a year.
“Over the past 12 months we made excellent progress in developing our climate and sustainability underwriting strategy and we are excited about a number of key initiatives in this area for 2023. I will continue to lead these underwriting initiatives globally in addition to my new role,” Carr commented.
David Marra and Ross Curtis have also started 2023 with new roles, which were announced back in November 2022. Marra is now RenRe’s EVP, Group Chief Underwriting Officer and CEO, and Curtis EVP, Chief Portfolio Officer.
