Risk Theory launches underwriting unit for downstream energy

Risk Theory, a privately held specialty lines insurance manager, has announced the launch of a new underwriting unit for downstream energy contractors.

Coal Energy PlantThe unit, called Carbon Underwriters (not related to the Lloyd’s focused underwriter of the same name), will offer products for contractors working in petrochemical plants and refineries in several states across the US.

The multi-line insurance offering will be led by Vice President Jonathan Doke, with coverage written on an admitted and non-admitted basis.

Solutions include Business Auto, Commercial General Liability, Commercial Excess Liability, Commercial Property, and Commercial Inland Marine.

States with access to the program from Carbon Underwriters include California, Illinois, Louisiana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.
