RLI announces promotions within Claim and Claim Counsel teams

Specialty insurer RLI has announced promotions within its Claim and Claim Counsel teams, effective immediately.

RLI Corporation logoCory Figiel, who joined RLI in 2016 as Director, Claim Counsel, has been promoted to Vice President, Claim.

With this promotion, Figiel will assume executive leadership responsibility for Professional Liability, Environmental Liability, and Executive Products Group claims.

Her extensive experience as a litigation and coverage attorney, spanning over nine years, equipped her with valuable insights into advising various claim teams on coverage issues and handling company-related litigation.

Figiel’s tenure at RLI includes a promotion to Assistant Vice President, Claim in 2019, where she successfully managed RLI Professional Services Group claims.

Recently, she expanded her responsibilities to include oversight for Environmental Liability claims. With over 16 years of legal and insurance industry experience, Figiel is well-prepared to excel in her new role.

Another notable promotion within RLI is that of Marcos Cancio, who has been elevated to the position of Vice President, Claim Counsel.

Cancio, who joined RLI in 2018 as Casualty Claim Counsel, brings more than 15 years of experience as a litigation and coverage attorney at prominent national and international law firms in Chicago.

His expertise in handling complex insurance coverage and bad faith matters across various product lines in the U.S. and internationally has been invaluable to RLI.

After his initial role as Casualty Claim Counsel, Cancio was promoted to Assistant Vice President, Casualty Claim in 2019, where he successfully built and managed the South-Central Casualty Claim team.

Most recently, he served as Northeast Casualty Claim Counsel in the Office of Claim Counsel. With over 20 years of legal and insurance industry experience, Cancio is poised to provide exceptional leadership and oversight for claim-related litigation within the company.

In response to these promotions, RLI President & CEO Craig Kliethermes expressed his confidence in the newly appointed leaders. He emphasised their extensive industry knowledge and leadership experience and highlighted their dedication to both customers and the company.

Kliethermes believes that their contributions will further strengthen RLI’s claim organisation and ensure continued success.
