Rokstone, the international specialty re/insurance MGA, has expanded its Athena Cyber proposition with a new extension designed to provide cover for supply chain disruption caused by cyber incidents involving an insured’s customers or suppliers.

The new extension, supported by $10 million of A-rated Lloyd’s capacity, is intended to address losses that can arise when a cyber incident affecting a third party interrupts an insured’s ability to operate or affects a key customer’s ability to purchase its goods or services.

Rokstone said the cover differs from traditional contingency business interruption insurance by specifically addressing cyber-related disruption across an insured’s wider commercial network. The extension is designed to respond to incidents that occur beyond an organisation’s own systems but nevertheless have a direct impact on its business.

The launch comes as businesses face increasing exposure to cyber incidents involving interconnected supply chains. Research cited by Rokstone indicates that 61% of organisations have experienced a supply chain breach, while almost a third of affected organisations have experienced operational disruption, financial losses or regulatory fines.

Rokstone pointed to recent high-profile incidents, including the attack on Jaguar Land Rover, as examples of the wider consequences that can result when vulnerabilities within a supply chain are exploited. The company said these incidents demonstrate the need for underwriting approaches that consider cyber risk across an organisation’s wider network of suppliers and customers.

The new extension is one of only two comparable offerings currently available in the market. The company has positioned the product as part of Athena Cyber’s specialist approach to risks arising from increasingly interconnected digital infrastructure and the growing use of artificial intelligence.

Athena Cyber was established by Rokstone in July 2026 and is led by Debbie Hobbs, President and Head of Cyber at Rokstone Athena. The division operates as an all-female underwriting team focused on cyber insurance for SMEs, mid-market businesses and large corporates. Rokstone said the team combines specialist underwriting expertise, carrier support and digitally enabled services to address cyber risks across a range of sectors and business sizes.

Commenting on the launch, Debbie Hobbs, President and Head of Cyber at Rokstone Athena, said: “We’re out of the starting blocks and already winning the race when it comes to delivering the modern cyber protection businesses need. Our new extension recognises that cyber events disrupt not only an organisation’s own systems, but also the wider commercial relationships on which they depend. This is particularly true of SME’s, who are generally less able to limit the impact of third-party incidents. Rockstone Athena is proud to take the lead in addressing this issue and helping businesses worldwide enhance supply chain resilience.”
