Niyam Group, an Indian-focused reinsurance platform, has announced the appointment of Ruchi Sheth as Director – Marine & Energy.
Sheth brings over 23 years of experience in the general insurance sector to her new role, combining deep underwriting expertise in Marine & Energy and strong commercial acumen.
The executive will lead the Marine & Energy portfolio for Niyam Syndicate 2047, focusing on supporting the placement of specialty marine and complex risks within India.
Through Niyam’s Insurance Interim Office (IIO) in GIFT City, the company’s clients will gain localised access to Lloyd’s security, underwriting expertise, and global capacity.
Additionally, Sheth has been tasked with building Niyam’s global reinsurance underwriting capability across high-growth markets in Asia and Africa.
“Trade, shipping, and energy are the growth propellers that move nations forward, and today, the tides of transformation have never looked more promising. Lloyd’s is the global leader in marine (re)insurance, and we are bringing this expertise and capacity to India at a pivotal moment in its growth journey. To be part of Niyam Group amidst this evolving horizon fills me with renewed purpose, energy exuberance, and fervorous for what lies ahead,” Sheth commented.
The executive joins Niyam following an eight-year tenure at Tata AIG General Insurance Company Limited, where she served as Vice President – Marine Insurance.
Her extensive career also includes roles at other premier Indian insurers, including ICICI Lombard, and Bajaj Allianz General Insurance – a joint venture between Bajaj Finserv Limited and Allianz SE.
“At Niyam, we are building a business grounded in discipline, long-term thinking, and underwriting excellence. Ruchi’s experience and values are strongly aligned with that ambition,” a Niyam spokesperson stated.
Niyam Group officially launched in January 2026, founded by insurance veteran Bobby Swarup. The platform established Niyam Syndicate 2047 in GIFT City, which officially commenced underwriting on April 1, 2026.
