Ryan Specialty’s transactional risk managing general underwriter, Ryan Transactional Risk (RTR), has appointed Marta Batalla and Luc Joordens as Co-Heads of Continental Europe.
Batalla and Joordens first joined Ryan Transactional Risk in 2019, helping to set up and establish its Continental European underwriting platform.
RTR noted that in their new formalised roles, Batalla and Joordens will be responsible for the underwriting, business development and expansion in all Continental European territories.
“With a combined 20 years of underwriting and team management experience in M&A insurance, they are well positioned to further develop and innovate the Ryan Transactional Risk product offering throughout the region and grow the distribution platform and broker relationships,” the firm added.
Batalla is based in Madrid, Spain, and Joordens in Barcelona, Spain.
Commenting on their appointment, James Montgomery, Managing Director of Ryan Transactional Risk, said, “Marta and Luc have been successfully leading our European build-out for over four years.
“During this time, RTR has grown, and the European transactional risk market has expanded. They individually and together know the European transactional risk landscape well and are the right team to move us forward.”
