French reinsurance firm SCOR has announced the appointment of Graeme Scott as its EMEA Casualty Chief Underwriting Officer, hiring him from his most recent position as Head of Inwards Reinsurance at Markel International.
Scott joins SCOR today and will be based in London for the reinsurer, where he will lead a team focused on development of the reinsurers London Market specialty Casualty book and supporting the SCOR P&C Treaty EMEA team on casualty underwriting.
Scott will be tasked with creating a dedicated team to provide specialty leadership across the EMEA casualty business at SCOR and will work in coordination with the UK P&C Treaty Team led by Joanne Woodcock.
His work with the P&C Treaty team will focus on increasing SCOR’s ability to lead reinsurance programmes and influence clients on existing, restructured, consolidated and new programmes across the EMEA region.
SCOR sees the appointment as a key step in developing its EMEA business, helping it to broaden its product range and expertise across the casualty reinsurance marketplace.
The creation of a new specialty leadership within a dedicated EMEA Casualty unit is seen as a way to enhance the structure that SCOR has been building over the past 2 years, where teams work cross functionally to help increase the reinsurers profile and relevance to clients at renewals.
This approach also targets bringing together underwriters across locations to work on major cross-business unit priorities, such as capital management and optimization, EMEA Motor Practice and other Business Development initiatives.
Scott is a recognised specialist in the London Casualty market, having held senior roles for a number of leading reinsurers, including as a Casualty Facultative underwriting manager at Munich Re, Treaty underwriter at Ace Tempest and most recently as Head of Inwards Reinsurance at Markel International.
