SCOR, the French-based global reinsurance group, has announced the appointment of Laurent Sabatié as Head of Natural Catastrophe Risks, a London-based role.

In his new position, Sabatié will play a vital part in further strengthening the company’s capabilities within the critical area that is natural catastrophe risks.

His key responsibilities will include refining SCOR’s view of risk, advancing its modelling capabilities, enhancing governance and model usage, and integrating climate and emerging risk perspectives into underwriting and portfolio management decisions.

In addition to this, Sabatié will also lead SCOR’s teams and R&D efforts, helping shape the future of the reinsurer’s Nat Cat risk management.

The executive brings close to two decades of experience across the re/insurance industry and the London market, alongside deep expertise in catastrophe modelling, risk analytics, and capital and risk steering.

Sabatié has also held senior roles at AIG and ProSight, and most recently co-founded Skyline Partners, where he developed innovative Nat Cat analytics platforms and helped structure catastrophe risk transfer solutions.

“Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to help organisations better understand and manage catastrophe risk through analytics, modelling, and innovation. Now, I’m looking forward to putting that experience to work at SCOR and contributing to the company’s continued leadership in this field,” Sabatié commented.
