Global re/insurer SCOR has signed a 15-year lease for around 50,000 sq. ft office space with Mitsubishi Estate London and Stanhope.
SCOR will take up over two and a half floors at one of London’s most sought-after office buildings, 8 Bishopsgate.
Knight Frank and Newmark BH2 acted on behalf of Stanhope and Mitsubishi Estate, with CBRE acting on behalf of SCOR.
The reinsurer’s move to 8 Bishopsgate is in line with its sustainability strategy and its ambition to achieve a net zero carbon footprint in operation by 2030 while remaining within its historic location in the insurance district.
Thierry Léger, Chief Executive Officer, SCOR, commented, “SCOR is delighted to announce the relocation of our London office to 8 Bishopsgate, where our team will be joining a vibrant community of industry players. This move reflects our commitment to fostering collaboration among our teams as employees will now be brought together in one building.
“It also aligns with our dedication to sustainability, as we strive to create a greener and more efficient work environment for our people and a more welcoming space for our partners.”
SCOR is the latest addition to the existing insurance occupiers at 8 Bishopsgate, which has also attracted occupiers from the legal, financial and tech sectors.
Shinichi Kagitomi, Managing Director, Mitsubishi Estate London, said, “As we welcome yet another occupier to 8 Bishopsgate, the building continues to cement its position as one of London’s flagship workplaces which meets all of the environmental, technological and high-amenity needs required of today’s premium office schemes.”
David Camp, Chief Executive, Stanhope, concluded, “The decision of SCOR to make 8 Bishopsgate their new London headquarters is a testament to the enduring appeal of our iconic building. We are excited to welcome them and provide a workspace that meets their high standards. This move further solidifies 8 Bishopsgate’s position as a premier business address within the City of London.”
