Scott Sykes to lead Amphitrite’s newly launched cargo division

Amphitrite Underwriting London, a marine specialist managing general agent (MGA), has announced the appointment of Scott Sykes as Head of its newly formed Cargo Division, which has recently secured capacity from Lloyd’s.

Sykes, who has over 35 years of experience in Lloyd’s and international markets. He spent the last 14 years in Singapore where he was most recently running Argenta Underwriting Pte Ltd at Lloyd’s Asia.

“This is a pivotal moment for us as we expand our specialist marine offering to include cargo business,” Amphitrite CEO Konstantinos Tampakakis stated.

Commenting on Sykes’ appointment, Tampakakis said: “Scott is a prominent figure in the cargo market and another high calibre addition to our team – his extensive experience and unique profile make him the perfect leader to drive the growth and success of our newly formed cargo division.

“I am extremely excited about the prospects for our new business and I am confident that we will further expand our exceptional service to brokers and clients within the cargo market.

Having commenced operations in 2018, Amphitrite has flourished under the regulatory guidance of Tysers, serving as its regulatory principal and facilitating its growth trajectory.

In February 2024, the MGA obtained full authorization from the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), a pivotal moment for the company which marked the start of its expansion endeavours within the specialist marine sector.
