Singapore Reinsurers’ Association names PartnerRe’s James Beedle as new Chair

James Beedle, the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asia Pacific (APAC) at PartnerRe, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA).

Singapore Reinsurers’ Association logoIn November 2024, Beedle stepped up as Deputy Chair, taking over from Marc Haushofer.

In his new role, Beedle will strongly focus on collaboration and continue to make SRA a platform for engagement, knowledge exchange, and collective progress across the reinsurance community.

The SRA is governed by an elected Executive Committee made up of senior volunteer reinsurance professionals, and is supported by a full-time executive director and secretariat team.

Beedle has extensive leadership experience in the reinsurance industry, and in his current role, he has been instrumental in driving regional growth and strengthening market partnerships.

Before PartnerRe, he was the Senior Managing Director of Willis Re Asia Willis (Singapore) Pte Ltd for over four years. Beedle was also the CEO and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Willis Re Japan.

In the past, he has served as the COO of Willis Reinsurance Australia Limited for over 17 years. Beedle started his career as a Reinsurance Broker at Willis Faber and Dumas Ltd in 1990.

To recap, the organisation was established in 1979 to be a leading voice for the country’s re/insurance industry, advocating for members on regulatory and policy issues, promoting industry excellence through training and development, facilitating collaboration and networking opportunities, and raising public awareness of the industry and its career paths.
