Sompo International, a global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty re/insurance, has appointed Malte Dittmann as Country Manager of its insurance operations in Germany and Austria.
Joining from HDI Versicherung, where he was a member of the board, Dittmann will be based in Cologne and report to Ralph Brand, President Continental Europe Insurance.
Dittmann’s previous experience also includes leadership and underwriting positions at Gothaer Allgemeine Versicherung, CNA Hardy, and Chubb.
Commenting on the appointment, Brand said: “Germany and Austria are key growth areas for Sompo International and Malte’s strong leadership skills, extensive industry experience and market knowledge will be pivotal in taking our business, across these countries, to the next level.
“I’m truly looking forward to working with Malte as we further build and strengthen our relationships with brokers and clients in Germany and Austria and develop solutions that address their needs.”
Further, Annette Wolff has been appointed to Head of Professional Lines Insurance for Germany and Austria. As well as Dittmann, she will take over her new role as of September 1.
She will report into Dittmann and Mathieu Borneuf, Head of Professional Lines Continental Europe Insurance.
Wolff has been with Sompo International since January 2022, holding both underwriting as well as business development and management roles.

Together with a growing team of experienced Professional Lines underwriters, she will lead our efforts to continue strengthening our offerings and services in this important line of business,” Brand added.
