International insurance and reinsurance company Sompo International, the brand that emerged after Sompo completed its acquisition of Bermudian insurance and reinsurance group Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd., has hired a new loss control leader.
Victor Sordillo joins as Senior Vice President and Loss Control Leader of Sompo International, a role in which he will be responsible for managing the loss control team and the development and delivery of strategic loss control services.
To begin, Sordillo will work primarily with Sompo International’s Global Risk Solutions’ underwriting teams, delivering risk management services to middle market and large account clients in the real estate, hospitality, financial institutions and professional services industries.
In the future the firm plans to evolve its loss control capabilities under Sordillo’s leadership into a service that will support the entire Sompo International insurance platform.
Sordillo will initially report to Michael Chang, CEO of Sompo Global Risk Solutions and be based in New York.

Sordillo has joined from QBE, where he was Senior Vice President, Loss Control. Prior to that he spent 30 years at the Chubb Group, holding a series of risk management roles with the most recent as Global Technical Service Manager, responsible for property and casualty strategy, overseeing large-loss investigations and claims reviews, and directing global safety and security engineering services. Sordillo also led the development of technical guidelines to drive profitable underwriting decisions across the firm.
