Bermuda domiciled property and casualty (P&C) insurer and reinsurer, Sompo International Holdings Ltd., has announced that its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Insurance, John (Jack) Kuhn, will also assume the new role of Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for Sompo International’s P&C business.
In his new role, Kuhn will undertake leadership responsibilities across the re/insurer’s underwriting operations as the firm continues to expand the overseas operations of its parent, Sompo Holdings Inc.
Stephen Young, CEO, Global Reinsurance, will report to Kuhn, and will continue to serve as a member of Sompo International’s P&C Executive Team.

Before Sompo, Kuhn joined Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. in November 2012 from AXIS Capital, where he was most recently CUO, AXIS Insurance.
He has 30 years’ of insurance industry experience, and has built and led successful specialty insurance operations in the U.S. and internationally while at Kemper Insurance and the Chubb Group.
