Sompo International, a global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty re/insurance, has appointed Elena Talegón as Head of Marine Insurance for Iberia.
According to the announcement, she will be based in Madrid, where she will report to Jamie Cañellas, Country Manager, Insurance for Iberia.
She joins Sompo International from global insurer RSA, where for the last 12 years, she has served as a Senior Marine Underwriter.
Prior to joining RSA, Talegón held roles in marine broking with Aon in Madrid and Cooper Gay & Co in London.
With over 20 years of industry experience, Talegón brings a deep level of expertise towards her new role.
Cañellas, commented on the appointment: “Marine insurance will play an important part in the continuing expansion of Sompo International’s insurance operation in Iberia. Elena’s vast experience and knowledge will be valuable assets in delivering on our commitment to serve our Spanish and Portuguese clients with tailored solutions, through a local team.”
Throughout the last few months, Sompo International has made a number of key hires, in order to help expand their international presence.
In October, the company appointed Marilyn Faugas as Country Manager, Insurance for France.
In September, the company hired Carlos Ortega as Head of Casualty Insurance, Iberia.
