Sompo International, a leading global provider of commercial and consumer property & casualty re/insurance, has added five members to its insurance leadership team in Italy.
The company has confirmed that all of the appointees will be based in Milan, where they will report to Simona Fumagalli, Country Manager Insurance, Italy.
At the same time, AgriSompo’s Italian-based business and team will continue to report into Marji Guyler-Alaniz, President of AgriSompo International and COO, AgriSompo North America.
The first new member is Brunello Bulciaghi, who will lead property insurance, and also report into Angela Weiss, Head of Property & Energy Insurance, Continental Europe.
Bulciaghi joins Sompo Intl. from Aon Reinsurance Italy where he served as a Property and Facultative Non-Marine Broker for Italy. Prior to this, he held senior property underwriting positions with AXA XL and AIG Europe.
Next up is Davide Dacquino, who will take charge of Marine Insurance, where he will report to René Huber, Head of Specialty & Marine Insurance, Continental Europe.
Dacquino joins Sompo Intl. from AXA XL, where he previously served as Senior Marine Underwriter for Italy. In addition he has also previously held marine underwriting positions at XL Catlin, ITAS Mutua and Sun Insurance.
At the same time, Luca Ricca joins the team where he in his new role he will be responsible for leading Professional Lines Insurance. He will also report to Mathieu Borneuf, Head of Professional Lines Insurance, Continental Europe.
Ricca joins from ANV in Barcelona, where he led the firm’s Southern Europe Financial Institutions practice. He has also previously worked at Beazley, Liberty Mutual and Dual Italy.
Next up is Michele Lanni, who will run Casualty Insurance. Lanni joins the firm from Mithras Underwriting Italy where he was Divisional Director of Business Development and Underwriting. He has previous underwriting experience at Victor Insurance and QBE Europe in London.
And lastly, Giovanni D’Antonio, who was appointed in February as Head of Accident & Health Insurance for Italy is also a member of the leadership team.
