Sompo International, a global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty re/insurance, has appointed Eric Herbelin as Country Manager Insurance, Switzerland.
Herbelin brings over 20 years of senior leadership and international management experience in the insurance industry, with particular expertise in strategy, finance, corporate development and risk management.
He will be based in Zurich, Switzerland, and report to Ralph Brand, President, Continental Europe Insurance.
Prior to Sompo, Herbelin served as President and CEO of Manitoba Public Insurance in Winnipeg, Canada. He has also previously held senior leadership positions with Swiss Re in the US and Switzerland, and with Zurich Insurance in Switzerland.
Commenting on his appointment, Brand said, “Eric is a proven leader with deep experience in growing and transforming insurance businesses across markets and product lines, both in Switzerland and abroad.
“Having been granted our licence to conduct primary insurance in Switzerland earlier this year, he is the perfect choice to lead our expansion strategy of growing our presence and business in this important market.”
