Sory Diomande has become the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Santam Re & International at Santam Insurance, the largest general insurer in South Africa.
Santam Re was formed in 2010, it only transacts proportional and non-proportional TREATY reinsurance for both marine and non-marine classes. No facultative reinsurance capacity is offered.
It offers capacity in Property, Engineering, Miscellaneous Accident, Motor (Own damage and liability), Marine (Hull and Cargo), Liability, Alternative Risk Transfer transactions.
Diomande will be based in Cape Town, and brings over two decades of industry experience to his new role at Santam Re.
He joins the company from Swiss Re, where he served as Director of Head of North ,East & West Africa for over two years.
Diomande also spent over eight years with Africa Re, having joined the company as Regional Director before being appointed Deputy Managing Director/Chief Technical Operations Officer & Executive Board Member.
Prior to that he spent a year with Willis Re – now part of Gallagher Re -, as well as with Allianz Reinsurance.
