Insurance industry intermediary Specialist Risk Group (SRG) has formally launched its Asia Pacific operations, establishing a regional hub in Singapore, backed by Warburg Pincus and Temasek.

This launch builds on the acquisition of the majority of SRG shares by the two Singapore-domiciled global investors in September 2024.

The newly launched hub will follow SRG’s model in the UK and Ireland, which focuses on complex risk, specialist expertise, and a people-first culture.

With Singapore as its base, SRG aims to build a business focusing on delivering solutions for difficult and hard-to-place risks, especially in specialty lines, complex property & casualty programmes and employee benefits.

SRG’s Asia Pacific team is backed by global expertise and driven by a deep understanding of local markets. The business is committed to building lasting relationships and creating an environment where specialist talent can thrive, explained SRG.

Collin Yap, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Asia Pacific, SRG, “This launch marks SRG’s first step into Asia Pacific, and it’s a move we do not take lightly.

“Our vision is simple: To make SRG the go-to broker and risk advisor for hard-to-place risk – the ones you turn to when the risk is difficult, complex, and requires specialist expertise.

“We are building on SRG’s proven success in the UK and Ireland, taking that specialist mindset, and just as importantly, the entrepreneurial spirit and people-first culture, and bringing it into this region.”

Warren Downey, Group CEO, SRG, added, “When we launched SRG, our conviction was that there was a gap in the market for a people- and culture-focused specialist – a company where people would want to come, give their best, and build something of scale and relevance.

“Singapore was the obvious choice for our Asia Pacific base – a global hub in an increasingly complex world. And if Singapore was the natural choice, then Collin Yap was the natural leader. We share a vision to build a company we’re proud to tell our friends and families about – one grounded in decency, respect, and service.”
