Starr Companies, an insurance and investment organisation providing property, casualty, and specialty coverage worldwide, has announced changes to its senior claims leadership team.
David Fitzgerald has been named Chairman of Claims. In this role, he will continue to contribute strategic guidance and oversight to the division. Fitzgerald has led the company’s claims operations for the past eight years, serving as Global Chief Claims Officer since 2017. He is based in New York and brings more than three decades of industry experience to the position.
Before joining Starr, Fitzgerald spent 25 years at AIG, where he held several senior leadership roles, including Chief Claims Officer for US Liabilities Field and Global Claims Officer for Primary Liability.
His background includes oversight of integrated primary claims organisations across workers’ compensation, auto liability, and general liability, as well as management of high-profile and specialty claims portfolios.
Conor Murray has joined Starr as Global Chief Claims Officer, assuming full executive responsibility for the company’s global claims division. He will be based in the organisation’s New York office.
Murray has more than 20 years of experience in risk management and claims leadership across major insurance carriers. His background spans multiple lines of business, with particular emphasis on marine and specialty claims.
Prior to joining Starr, he served as Chief Claims Officer, North America at AIG. He has also held senior leadership roles at AXA XL and Glatfelter Insurance Group, where he oversaw specialty, global lines, and claims management operations.
