QBE Insurance Group, a commercial insurer and reinsurer headquartered in Australia, has appointed Stephanie Cryer as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for its International division, taking effect on 1 April 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
Cryer will report to Jason Harris, Chief Executive Officer of QBE International, and will join the division’s Executive Management Board. She will also work closely with Peter Burton, QBE Group Chief Underwriting Officer.
Having joined QBE in 2017 as Head of Property, Cryer later advanced to Head of Product Leaders in 2021. In that role, she oversaw product strategy, policy wordings and underwriting governance across a wide range of business lines and territories.
She brings more than 30 years of industry experience spanning major product classes and international markets, with previous senior positions at Chubb Limited and ACE Limited, now part of Chubb.
Cryer succeeds Nick Hankin, who became Managing Director of QBE Re on 1 January 2026. QBE International has said it will confirm a new Head of Product Leaders in due course.
Jason Harris, Chief Executive Officer, QBE International, commented: “I am delighted to announce Stephanie as the CUO for our International division and wish her well in her new role when she starts in April. Her extensive experience and knowledge of the market make her a good fit for this role.
“I’m pleased that we’ve been able to make this appointment from within QBE. It’s a reflection of the calibre of our leaders at QBE and our strong commitment to supporting and recognising talent within the International division.”
