QBE Europe has announced the appointment of Stephen Johnson as Head of Trading for the South East region, a newly created role, effective January 1, 2024.

With over two decades of industry experience, Johnson will lead the regional underwriting teams in London and Chelmsford, engaging with broker partners and customers.

He reports to Andy Fitzgerald, Director UK Regions for QBE Europe and takes on the role from the QBE Property team where he was Underwriting Manager, Commercial Property.

Johnson has been with QBE for close to five years, and has held a number of roles since joining the company. Prior to this, he served as a Property Underwriter for Probitas 1492; he has also held roles at Chubb, RSA and Brit.

“Stephen’s appointment completes the hiring of our Trading Heads across the UK regions and will further support our growth ambitions. The South East is an important region and Stephen’s role will provide additional focus to trading with our broker partners and customers in this location,” Fitzgerald commented.

In April and October 2023, QBE Europe increased its broker support through the appointment of Heads of Trading in each of its other regional offices as part of its growth agenda.

These appointments included David Round as Head of Trading, Birmingham; Steve Field as Head of Trading, Bristol; Chris Long as Head of Trading, Glasgow and Belfast; Janine Wood as Head of Trading, Leeds; and Stacey Flannery as Head of Trading, Manchester.
