Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, the commercial insurance arm of the Swiss Re Group, has appointed Michelle Oosthuizen as Head South Africa, effective 1 November 2018.
She will now be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ business in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa from the company’s office in Johannesburg.
Oosthuizen joined Swiss Re in 2000 and most recently served as Global Head of Reinsurance Contracts, based in Zurich.
She has 18 years of re/insurance experience and has held a number of other senior positions at Swiss Re, including as Legal Counsel and Head of Compliance to Swiss Re Africa, and as Head of Claims Australia and New Zealand.
Prior to joining Swiss Re, Oosthuizen established and managed her own law firm in South Africa. She speaks English, Afrikaans and German.
