Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, the commercial insurance arm of global players Swiss Re, has appointed Luciano Calheiros as CEO of its new Brazilian joint-venture operations.
Luciano Calheiros will become CEO of Swiss Re’s new commercial insurance joint-venture in Brazil as of 1st May 2017, succeeding Joao Nogueira, who is transitioning to the Board of Directors of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Brasil Seguros S.A.
Calheiros will head up the operations of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in Brazil and its joint venture with Bradesco Seguros S.A., which is still awaiting regulatory approval.
Since 2016 Calheiros held the role of Commercial Director of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in Brazil. With over 20 years of insurance experience working for international carriers and on the brokerage side of the business in the Brazilian insurance market and overseas.

Finalisation of the joint venture with Bradesco Seguros S.A is subject to regulatory approval and closing conditions. Nogueira’s appointment is also subject to the approval of authorities.
With Brazil seen as a key opportunity for global reinsurers, this joint-venture will be important for Swiss Re as it seeks to secure additional premiums from the Latin American marketplace.
