Global reinsurer Swiss Re is partnering with automotive technology specialist Veoneer on road safety solutions designed to help further the development of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and related services.
The partnership will see Veoneer enhance its ADAS tech using the insights and empirical knowledge Swiss Re has accumulated over years spent in the re/insurance sector.
A more complex and thorough understanding of a vehicle’s response to specific scenarios such as differing road or weather conditions, is expected to provide a clearer understanding of the opportunities and limitations within current systems.
Equally, Swiss Re hopes to benefit from Veoneer’s expertise on ADAS hardware and software technologies and information by feeding it into its ADAS Risk Score to the benefit of car manufacturers and insurers themselves.
“We’re delighted to further our work on advanced driving assistance systems through the partnership with Veoneer. We thereby respond to our clients’ needs of being able to accurately assess the latest ADAS technologies and their potential impact on future claims,” said Swiss Re’s Global Head P&C Solutions Pranav Pasricha
Steven Jenkins, Chief Technology Officer at Veoneer, added, “With extended knowledge about the real-world performance of various ADAS technologies in different parts of the world, we can develop systems used by vehicle manufacturers globally that support drivers in an even better way. It forms the next step in collaborative driving, putting both driver and technology in focus.”
