Global reinsurance giant Swiss Re has appointed Attila Kerényi as Chief Risk Officer and Member of the Executive Committee, property & casualty (P&C) Reinsurance.
Based in New York, Kerényi is a veteran across the industry and brings over 22 years of experience towards his new role.
Kerényi has worked for the reinsurance giant for over 21 years, having joined the firm in late 2000 as a Treaty Underwriter – P&C. After serving in that role for more than four years, he was then named Director Group Corporate Strategy in 2005, where he was based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Moving on to 2008, Kerényi was then appointed to Head Executive Office Asset Management, Director, where he was based in New York. He would serve in this role until early 2010, where he was then named Head of External Investment Management.
Additionally, in 2015, Kerényi was then appointed to Chief Risk Officer, Asset Management & Head of Financial Risk Management, where he led the firms global Financial Risk Management function, comprised of Market Risk Management, Credit Risk Management, Valuation Risk Management, and Quantitative Risk Management,
After serving in that role for just under seven years, Kerényi was then appointed to Chief Risk Officer & Member of the Executive Committee of iptiQ – Swiss Re’s digital B2B2C primary life and non-life insurer. He would serve in this role until April 2023.
Meanwhile, as previously reported, Swiss Re has began to search for a new Chair, after its current incumbent Sergio P. Ermotti agreed to head back to the banking and asset management group UBS as Group CEO.
