Cayman Islands-based reinsurer Topsail Re has hired industry veteran Kanga Ahn as Vice President of Underwriting.
In her new role, Ahn’s main responsibilities will include underwriting, marketing and account management.
She holds a deep degree of expertise in the treaty reinsurance industry, having worked across the sector for nearly 20 years.
She joins the organisation from reinsurance giant Swiss Re, where she previously served at for 19 years, holding roles both in the U.S. and Korea.
She joined Swiss Re in 2005 as a Senior Client Manager, where she was based in Korea.
Then in 2015, she was appointed Senior Treaty Underwriter, and was based in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Addressing her new role, Ahn said: “I am very excited to be part of the team that I’ve heard only good things about. The reinsurance market never stops evolving. I believe that my journey with Topsail will take me to many new good places. Sailing cannot always be smooth, but I have no doubt that a great crew always gets through the storms and arrives at the desired destination.”
Earlier this year, Bishop Street, a RedBird Capital Partners portfolio company, announced a joint venture with Topsail Re, to support growth of its differentiated Managing General Agents (MGA) platform.
