Talbot Underwriting adds experienced lawyer to Board of Directors

Talbot Underwriting Ltd., a subsidiary of Validus Holdings, has announced the appointment of Monica Burch as Non-Executive Director of its Board of Directors, and Chair of the Risk Committee.

Monica BurchBurch is currently a consultant at Addleshaw Goddard LLP, and is also a Non-Executive Director Board Member of the Crown Prosecution Service, and Chairs its Nominations and Governance Committee, according to a statement by Talbot.

She is also Chair of the Monetary Foundation, and an appointed Civil Recorder. Prior to being a consultant at Addleshaw Goddard Burch was a Senior Partner at the firm, and her expertise includes contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, passing off, use of confidential information and copyright disputes, says Talbot.

She also served as Non-Executive Director of Channel 4 Corporation during this time, and served on the Board of PRIME from 2012 to 2015.

“I am delighted to be joining Talbot’s very experienced Board, and I look forward to working with them to continue to strengthen the business and seize the opportunities that come Talbot’s way,” said Burch.

Chairman of Talbot, Rupert Atkin, added; “As a senior lawyer with international experience, Monica brings complementary skills and knowledge to our Board of Directors. We are confident that she will apply her previous expertise as both an executive and a non-executive board member to this new position and are delighted to have her involved.”

Burch will also serve as Chair of the Risk Committee, replacing Tony Keys, who left the Board in March 2017 after 14 years.

The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) has approved the appointment of Burch with consent from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), says Talbot.
