In a move that sees The Hanover Insurance Group (THG) expand capabilities for the growth and management of its transactional surety business, Carrick Bligh has been promoted to Vice President of Commercial Surety, effective May 1st, 2018.

Bligh joined the firm six years ago, and brings 14 years’ industry experience to the role, which sees him oversee all of THG’s commercial surety business.

Additionally, industry veteran of 35 years Theodore Martinez will move into the role of Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for commercial surety. Martinez joined THG seven years ago and is expected to help the company expand business with its agent partners and brokers and leverage its underwriting discipline.

Commenting on the expansion, Bryan J. Salvatore, President of Specialty at THG, said, “Over the last five years, we have developed a broad risk appetite and diverse portfolio that spans all industries within the S&P index.

“By leveraging our internal talent to expand our leadership team, we can continue to deliver on our strategy and create even greater opportunities for our agent partners.”
