The Hartford appoints Edmund Reese to its board

Edmund Reese will join the Hartford’s board of directors in the middle of October, according to a statement from the company.

Use This HartfordAccording to The Hartford, Reese will serve on its Finance, Investment, and Risk Management and Audit Committees. He is currently employed as the CFO of Broadridge Financial Solutions.

Christopher Swift, chairman and CEO of The Hartford, said: “Reese is an accomplished financial leader with deep experience in investments, strategy, operations, and product launches during his time with several trusted and admired companies.”

“He was also a driving force in the success of the consumer business of a leading financial services company. We look forward to having him join the board as we focus on profitable growth and maximizing value for all stakeholders.”

The New York-based Reese is coming on the board of The Hartford weeks after the company reported a net income of $437m for the second quarter of 2022, after falling from $900m in the 2021 period. According to his LinkedIn profile, Reese has been with Broadridge since November 2020.

According to the insurer, this was primarily due to a $485m, before tax, change from net realised gains to net realised losses.
